If you’re new to the world of wine, you may feel like a lost needle in a haystack. There are so many brands and flavors of wine, and you may not even know where to begin when it comes to consuming or purchasing wine.

Although wine can be overwhelming at first, you can easily learn the basic facts to help you start to understand it all.

There are many brands of wines in the world, and it may be hard for you to decipher which brand to buy. Wines will vary in price, but it’s important to keep in mind that the price does not decipher the quality of the wine, so don’t think that the more expensive wines will always be better than the less expensive ones. Wine Flavors

There is a large variety of wine flavors available today, but most white and red wines will stick to a few basic tastes. Most white wines will incorporate a fruity taste, such as citrus, peach, melon or pear. Some white wines will also have a butter or floral taste to them too.

Red wines tend to incorporate the flavors of red fruits, such as cherries, cranberries, blackberries and plums. Some reds will even taste a bit spicy or have a darker floral taste to it.

Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel tend to be the most popular sub types of wines, and each one of these are best consumed with certain types of foods.

Chardonnay is best paired with white meats such as poultry, pork or fish. It is also often consumed with harder cheeses.

Pinot Grigio tends to be very fresh and fruity, and it is best paired with ham, seafood, fruits and even sushi.

Sauvignon Blanc is very crisp and has a very acidic taste to it, and this wine really only pairs well with white meats such as pork, poultry and seafood.

Riesling is one of the most versatile wines to pair with food. The flavor of Riesling can vary from sweet to dry, and this allows it to be paired with anything from white meats to vegetables to anything spicy.

Pinot Noir has both a fruity and spicy blend to it, making it the perfect addition to chicken, veal, shellfish, pasta, mushrooms, pork, lamb, cheese and beef.

Zinfandel can also be paired with a variety of foods, including beef, sausage, pork, chicken, pasta and tuna. And if you’re looking for a wine to drink with pizza, this would also be a great choice.
