Signs and symptoms of stress.

How do you realize you are stressed?

Identifying stress can sometimes be stressful in itself. With most of who are under stress, adults and children,  denying their predicament, there are several clinically identified signs.

Broadly categorized into; Mental signs, emotional/psychological signs and physical/cognitive signs.

Their subcategories include: Negative attitude, Insomnia, fatigue, constant sadness, confusion,constipation, muscle spasms, indecisiveness, depression, fear, migraines, lack of concentration, hopelessness, teeth grinding, nightmares and suicidal thoughts.

Stages of stress development.

With stress, the first stage is the alarm and mobilization. This usually happens automatically, where your body reacts rapidly to a conflict, rendering your body defensive. Characterized with behaviors such as shock and nervousness, it is a rapid process.  This stage can actually be exciting. In a situation where you are under pressure to complete a work assignment, stress works for the good as it keeps your enlightened.

The second stage is the adaptive stage. Your body processes the first conflict, gradually accommodating the occurrence by initiating an right response. Hereby, your body establishes a homoeostatic balance allowing you to have a better perception of whatever is challenging you. Hereby, episodic stress can be positive or negative. The body identifies stress a way of life.

The other stage is the exhaustion stage. This stage is where the level of stress you might be facing has escalated. Resulting from prolonged stressful encounters, this stage is fatal. It leaves you more susceptible to diseases since your immune system is compromised. Chronic stress is whereby stress is never-ending. This is negative as it affects every aspect of your lifestyle.

Impact/effects of stress on your health.

Stress has major implications on your lifestyle. As a way of manifestation, stress depicts itself in your state of health.

On your health in particular, stress leads to the development of illnesses such as ulcers and acne. This is because your immune system has been weakened.

In women, stress suppresses ovulation. Sexually, stress influences impotency and loss of libido. Stress heavily affects your physical self. It prematurely ages you, through wear and tear of your tissues.

Stress takes toll on your nervous system. It influences an over active autonomic system, manifested through headaches and migraines. In severe cases, your health depreciate further into depression and possibly madness. Chronic stress could actually lead to death, as every part of your body is overwhelmed.

Treatment and management of stress.

With or without help, stress management is something you should master.

The first step is to identify your personality type. Depending on one’s personality and character, management of stress borrows heavily. With others risk averse, others do not prefer competitive situations. Such variations of character influence the ability to handle stress effectively.

The other step is to find the source of stress. Whether work relate, family related, school related, stress is the body’s reaction to an action. Identifying the source helps you decide the next steps to undertake in managing stress. It gives you a better understanding of your environment and how you can adapt to it. Without overlooking anything, find the real source of stress.

Acquire knowledge on stress management. Know techniques that you can use in your lifestyle. With solutions such as having a leisure time, yoga practice, jogging, meditation and swimming, adopt a strategy that incorporates well with your personality and your physique.

Avoid deteriorating into chronic stress. As much as stress is constant in life, allowing you to deteriorate into chronic stress will leave your health heavily destroyed.

While using simple tips as smiling quite often, socializing, exercising, relaxing and sleeping; you can still seek professional assistance such as psychiatrists. This helps you avoid unhealthy ways such as smoking, heavy drinking, drug and substance abuse, all which destroy further your lifestyle.
