Women who want to enhance their breasts, but do not want to undergo surgery or get implants, may turn to fillers. The fillers are a temporary solution to breast enhancement because the material, which is hyaluronic acid, gradually gets absorbed into the body. It is naturally found under the skin, and it is slowly digested and broken down into bio-compatible products which are eliminated by the body.
What is the Treatment?
Breast fillers are administered through injections based on Stabilized Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid. This treatment is already being used around the world in facial aesthetics. It is a gel that is available in two formulations. They can be injected separately or together. The type of treatment as well as the volume of filler to be injected will be decided by the patient and the doctor during the consultation.
The procedure is done under local anesthetic. The patient is lying down, and the anesthetic is administered under the armpits, down the cleavage area and around the sides of the breasts. The breasts will be numb. A very small incision is made through which the filler is placed in the breast. It is positioned in the place where an implant would go, which in under the breast tissue and above the muscle. There will be a screen placed so that the patient cannot see the procedure.
The surgeon will need to manipulate the arms and the gel to get the best shape. One breast is done at a time, and the procedure only takes between 30 – 45 minutes. It is an outpatient procedure, so no overnight stay is required.
There will be some pain, swelling and bruising for a few days in the chest area. It’s not recommended for patients to lie on their front side for a few days. The body will produce tissue around the gel that will keep it in place. Since the gel is naturally present in the body, there is little or no possibility of an allergic reaction.
Depending on the type of filler used, it will last up to 18 months. It is not a replacement for implants because it doesn’t actually make the breast larger, but it will lift and reshape the breast.
What are the Advantages?
Breast filler treatments have several advantages. There is no recovery time, the results are immediate, there is no scar, and the appearance is extremely natural. The cup size can be increased, and the breast made shapely and full. If the patient is not happy with the results, the injection of an enzyme that will digest the filler can be given and the hyaluronic Acid will be removed.
Who can Benefit?
Breast filler may be a suitable option for women with naturally small breasts. The filler will push the breast forward, making it look larger. After breastfeeding, the breasts may sag because of loss of support tissue. Filler can give sagging breasts some volume, making them look fuller. Women with medium-sized breasts who would like them to be larger, but don’t want implants can benefit from filler. They have a large amount of breast tissue which will cover the filler and the breasts will look larger and feel natural.
Who should not consider the Treatment?
Women who may not be suitable for filler are those who have sagging breasts without much breast tissue. Without tissue, the filler will not be covered and will look and feel hard. Women with very small breasts that don’t have much breast tissue may also not be good candidates for breast filler treatments. For these women, implants may be the best option.
