Estradiol Hormone Imbalance Symptoms; Men and Women Sexual Health.

Estradiol Hormone Imbalance Symptoms; Men and Women Sexual Health. You may not have heard of estradiol, but it plays a big part in your sexual health. (So, obviously you’re going to want to pay attention to it.)

Estradiol is a steroid hormone in the human body, meaning that it is a naturally occurring steroid in the body that acts as a hormone. Estradiol represents estrogen and like other steroids it is derived from cholesterol.

It is present in both women and men and is mostly produced by the sexual organs (ovaries in women, testes in men) but is also produced in smaller amounts by other areas of the body, as well.

The most potent naturally occurring estrogen, estradiol aids in the growth of tissue in the reproductive organs, including the lining of the vagina, the cervical glands, the endometrium (the inner membrane of the uterus), and the lining of the fallopian tubes. It also plays key roles in ovulation and pregnancy.

But estradiol is also a huge reason why you turned out the way you did. During puberty, estradiol affects breast development, changes in body shape, bones, joints and fat deposition. Fat structure and skin composition of the body are also modified by estradiol.

It also plays a big part in bone growth and its deficiency later in life is part of the reason women can have a loss of bone density as they get older.

With a hand in so many important functions in the body, it’s important to know if your body is lacking in this particular hormone. Women who are post-menopausal are especially susceptible to having low levels of this important hormone.

If you have any of the following symptoms, you might be suffering from estradiol hormone imbalance.

Females:

  • Acne or oily skin
  • Bloating
  • Bone loss
  • Decreased fertility
  • Depression
  • Hot flashes
  • Heavy or painful periods
  • Irregular periods

  • Low libido
  • Memory lapses
  • Mood swings
  • Obstructed bile secretion or function

If you are found to have an estradiol imbalance, there are many ways in which you can get more of it into your body to counteract hypoestrogenism, which is the fancy word for estrogen deficiency.

Medications are available to take orally or as creams to rub on the skin. There are also injectable medications and vaginal preparations.

There is a warning with the oral medications, though. Because they have to pass through the liver, they can lose some of their potency and initiate unwanted side effects.

With estradiol being such an important part of a healthy body, especially for women, it pays to make sure that you have the proper amount of it in your body for your age and gender.
