You’re young, you’re beautiful, so enjoy yourself – or so you’ve been told. While there’s some truth in this mantra, what we might not be told as much by the media and our companions these days is that you also should take good care of your body now, when you’re young.
This means seeing the doctor when there’s something wrong instead of putting it off. It means getting vaccinations instead of thinking you are strong enough to manage on your own.
Here are four more tips to help you keep your body healthy:
Exercise is tops
Lazing around on the couch at home all day is simply not an option if you’re intending to be active later in life. Chances are, if you don’t exercise now when you’ve got the energy and capability, you won’t be able to as much later when you’re older. Your limbs will be stiffer, your chance of injury higher, and you’ll just feel a lot sillier later on. So get exercising now! If you’ve got no motivation, find some friends and get competitive. You’re young, you’re healthy, so make sure you keep it that way!
Avoid the fatty food
Fried food, junk food, processed food, and the list goes on and on. Just be careful. There’s nothing too wrong with indulging in some forbidden food every once in a while, but if you’re basing your diet on unhealthy food, you will see the results later on, if not now. Remember that our bodies were created to operate at their peak when they have the right intake of food. Don’t compromise it with junk food binges or, for that matter, too much alcohol. Alcohol can be a huge contributor to a huge belly, not to mention it damaging your liver, brain and whatever else. Limit yourself when drinking as you would when eating unhealthy food and you’ll be a lot happier with yourself, and a lot happier when you’re a bit older.
Watch what you watch
You wouldn’t think this would be a normal health or lifestyle tip, but one part of keeping your body healthy now is protecting your eyes. This means wearing sunglasses when you’re out and about, even if the sun doesn’t appear as strong. This also means limiting yourself when it comes to working and playing on the computer, tablet, game console, and mobile phone. Remember that sight is a precious gift. Enjoy it now, but protect it too so you can enjoy it later.
Lather on the sunscreen
And on that note of being sun safe, it’s also worth remembering that there is nothing desirable about skin cancer. So even if no one else seems to be lathering on the sunscreen or putting on a hat, it would be wise for you to do so. Even with the sunscreen, why cover up a bit more if you’re at the beach? Take an umbrella or sun tent and keep cooler and safer. These are easy methods and can save your body a lot of damage later on. And it’s not just about health – you’ll be saving money too in the long run!
